A couple of photos we took before we went to last evenings World Cruise Shore-Side event.
These flags are set up in preparation for the World Cruise Games.
On the 2012 World Cruise two Shore Side events have been planned for those taking the Full World Cruise. One was hosted last evening in Melbourne and the other one will take place in Shanghai.
Since close to half the guests attended the World Cruise Shore-Side event in Melbourne last evening there was open seating the Crystal Dining Room for those guests remaining on board the ship and other dining venues were opened such as Silk Road and Prego.

Our evening began at 6:00 PM when we boarded buses for the World Cruise Shore-Side Event.
From the pier we were taken on buses to the Regent Theatre which is located in the center of town and is approximately a 15 to 20 minute drive from the pier. This magnificent theater was build in 1929 and since that time both the theater and the ballroom where the event was held have been restored to its original look.
This theater features a Spanish Architecture and is considered to be one of the most stunning buildings in all of Melbourne. Our fabulous evening included entertainment featuring the popular Paris Burlesque "Moulin Rouge" Show and this theme carrier over to the event.
Wonderful Australian canapes, along with local wines beers and water and other drinks were served throughout the evening.
When we got out of the bus and entered the theatre we were greeted by Cruise Director Rick Spath and World Cruise Hostess Elise Ivy and Hotel Director Josef Lumetsberger and Vice President of Land Programs John Stoll. We then proceeded into the theatre and we were greeted by Captain Glenn and we found our table.
We got a table that was right in the front of the theater directly in the middle of the stage. Bob and Glo sat with us along with Bill and Celeste and Pauline. These are some photos from the event. We had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the show and the food and the drink.
We were also handed flutes of sparkling wine. Once seated we were also offered a choice of either white or red wine or both. They places canapes on the table. The performance consisted of four acts and in between each act additional platters of canapes were placed on each table.
The interior of this theater was absolutely beautiful.
John Stoll head of Land Programs coordinated this event. He began planning this event over one year ago.
Cruise Director Rick Spath opened up the show with a dramatic entrance.
Captain Glenn and Rick Spath and a couple of the performers.

This performer opened up the show and from time to time would also stop by some of the tables to talk with or to sing to guests. With microphone in hand one of the guests he spoke with was Anne Marie and he asked her a few questions for all to hear.
Between acts this actor went to a table or two and Anne Marie was one of the lucky ones to get to answer some questions from him. Celeste is also in the photo.
James Coughlan, Manager Of Shore Excursions, with his parents. We also met James' grandparents in New Castle, Australia. James is from Australia.
While at the event we spoke with Mimi Weisband, Vice President of Crystal Cruises Public Relations who is on board the ship with her husband for this entire leg of the World Cruise and she introduced us to the Editor In Chief of Cruise Critic, Carolyn Brown. It was a pleasure to meet Carolyn after all of these years from reading about her travels. She will be on-board just for a couple of more days.
While we were on the first bus to arrive to the theatre rather than rushing out when the performance was over we rode back on the last or maybe the next to last bus along with Bob and Glo, our Cruise Director, Mimi and her husband and some other guests. We had some wonderful laughs on the bus.
Upon our arrival back to the ship we were greeted by several members of the crew and we were immediately given cold towels for our face and hands. A light buffet was awaiting us which was prepared by the Food and Beverage Team and also served to us by the wonderful Crystal Dining Room team.
Instead of the buffet we got together with Bob and Glo and we had some snacks and some drinks together and Anne Marie and Keith also had a dinner salad. Cruise Director Rick Spath and Hotel Director Josef Lumetsberger came by for a little while. We watched as the ship sailed away from Melbourne. Afterwards, we stopped by the Avenue Saloon for a few minutes. We didn't get to sleep until around 1:00 AM before adjusting the clocks back 30 minutes. As we returned back to our room we thought that outside of being on a cruise that in some ways this reminded us about our days living on campus at the University we attended where you could easily spend lots of time with other friends. Of course, our University didn't have the high quality of service and cuisine found on this cruise.
This was a glorious night and we did make wonderful memories last evening that we will carry with us for the rest of our lifetime. We thank Crystal Cruises so very much for all of the effort that went into the planning and execution of this shore side event which made it very special for all of us. Special thanks go to John Stoll and his entire team.
We slept well and the good news is that as we mentioned we turned the clocks back 30 minutes (yes 30 minutes) prior to going to sleep last evening.
For one of the few times of this cruise, Keith slept a little later and didn't work out in the Fitness Center. He did wake up around 6:00 AM and after putting up the laundry he sat in the Lido Cafe and enjoyed some coffee. Anne Marie took the morning off as well.
We had the usual breakfast of oat meal, banana and prunes. As we had our breakfast we enjoyed the Daily Morning Show.
After breakfast Anne Marie went to the salon for her second haircut of the cruise. Keith got in some good exercise by going to the Spin Class for indoor cycling. This was one of the tougher classes so Keith got a great workout. There were four guests taking the class and all worked well.
There were lots of activities on board today including several interesting lectures. Major General Michael O'Brien spoke about Australia and talked about its future in the World. Dr.Jea-Pierre Isbouts spoke about Adelaide and all that we can expect when we arrive to this city tomorrow. In the afternoon Shelby Coffey spoke about the Media World and all of the changes that have taken place from the times of Walter Cronkite until today when media is not just focused to television and the print media but to other areas even including Facebook.
We enjoyed another one of those delicious salad entrees for lunch which was a Chef's Salad.
This afternoon we have Team Trivia and Keith plans to play Paddle Tennis and then meet up with friend Bob. Anne Marie will walk on the Promenade Deck and will probably participate in a few more activities.
We are posting this earlier than normal today as the Internet is supposed to be down for a few hours later today due to scheduled maintenance.
This evening we will dine in the Crystal Dining Room.
Our next port of call stop is in Adelaide, Australia.
We will begin tomorrows post with a summary from this afternoon.

I had to chuckle about your comment concerning the food etc at your university. Mine didn't either but back than I don't think I gave it a thought. Your special event sounds wonderful. Thank you for sharing it with us.
