Today marks our last full day in Miami before we board the cruise ship tomorrow, December 21. We thought we would begin with a funny story.
For those of you who travel a lot you undoubtedly know the challenges of hotel air conditioning for your room. Sometimes it's too cold and sometimes too hot and then sometimes each person has their own preference and that is what we faced last evening and it became comical. Keith was too cold and would inch up the dial to make it warmer and then a little while later Anne Marie was too hot so she would inch down the dial to make it cooler. This went on for awhile before we went to sleep. Finally, Keith decided to not only turn up the dial but to also move the switch to off which turned the A/C off. About an hour after Keith had shut off the A/C and was fast asleep, Anne Marie was quite hot so she turned the dial down a little bit thinking she was making it cooler. This went on for about 45 minutes. Every so often she would just turn the dial a little more to make it cooler. Finally, the light bulb went off both figuratively and literally when enough-was-enough and Anne Marie put her glasses on and turned on the lamp (Keith was still asleep) and she discovered that the A/C was turned off. Keith was now in hot water and Anne Marie moved the switch back to the on position. The good news is that we could laugh about this, but Keith knows that he will be in more hot water if he turns the A/C off this evening.
Fast forward to this morning. Shortly after waking up this morning, we enjoyed breakfast in our hotel room as we have done each morning since our arrival to Miami. We continued to keep it simple and healthy with a bowl of cereal, milk, and a banana along with some water and coffee.
Between yesterday and today, Anne Marie has packed most of the clothes we used in Miami as well as packing most of the items we purchased in Miami for the voyage. A few of the items we purchased we will carry onto the ship ourselves because either they are breakable or they contain liquid in them.
We decided to just take a walk over to Bayside this morning. Bayside is located fairly close to the bridge that is used to get to and from the Port Of Miami. It contains several small stores and lots of restaurants. Since it was windy this morning we made this our destination as we could walk inside the center.

Afterwards, we walked to some other nearby areas. This is a memorial in memory for former President John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
We eventually stopped by one of the grocery stores to pick up some items for lunch. In the afternoon we organized ourselves in preparation for boarding the ship tomorrow. We also touched base with family and friends by phone.
This evening we will dine with friends Bob and Glo and one of their grand daughters.
Like us, Bob and Glo will be on the ship until the end of the World Cruise.
TODAY'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY..........
“Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.” – Oprah Winfrey

Keith do you have the same cabin for the entire 4months? I just looked at your itinerary and saw that you are taking 2 cruises before the World Cruise starts. What fun.
ReplyDeleteMary, yes, we will have the same room for the entire time so we only have to unpack one time.

Bon Voyage, it's been delightful reading about your adventures in Miami. I'm sure you are looking forward to settling in to your new home at sea in the morning. The thermostat story was wonderful.
