We last sailed on the Crystal Serenity from early January till mid-March of this past year.
The ship was launched in June, of 2003 and for us is the perfect size ship for a World Cruise or voyages of varying lengths.
The Serenity features nine passenger decks, a wrap-around promenade deck, a state of the art fitness center with a spa and a beauty salon, both an outdoor and indoor swimming pool, two Jacuzzis, a casino, a movie cinema, two separate rooms public rooms for entertainment, a beautiful main dining room, two specialty restaurants along with other dining venues, and several other public rooms including several lounges where one can enjoy a drink, music, dancing and/or conversation.
The ship was enhanced this past May as part of an extensive dry-dock. Over 400 technicians were brought on-board for this major redesign and along with the support from many members from the Crystal crew they worked around the clock for 14 consecutive days to bring about many nice enhancements to this gorgeous ship. All 531-passenger staterooms were enhanced with new wall-to-wall carpeting, floor-to-ceiling headboards, bedside cabinets, sofas, curtains and pillows, all in a new contemporary color scheme. New modern lighting was added to each room along with an electronic "do not disturb" and doorbell system and new flat screen televisions.
Other enhancements included new lighting in the Crystal Dining Room to add to the overall dining experience, carpeting in various areas of the ship including the passenger hallways along with new wallpaper and artwork, a new look for a couple of the on board shops, enhancements to the Silk Road Japanese Specialty Restaurant, new furniture and a new modern look for the pool deck, along with several other changes throughout the ship.
We saw a mock-up of the redesigned Penthouse Category room earlier this year which feature many new amenities and a beautiful contemporary look in the way of colors.
This is one of the nice new features of the redesigned staterooms providing a doorbell and a new system for guests not to be disturbed or to request that their rooms be made up by the stewardess.
A new vanity desk provides a nice area that is both bright and spacious.
We will be sure to take and post plenty of additional pictures as soon as we are all settled on-board the ship.
These are deck plans of the Crystal Serenity which detail each of the nine decks of the ship that are devoted to the guests. In addition, there are decks below which include the crew quarters, and other key areas of the ship.
