Wonderful Dinner At Silk Road With Friends Bob And Glo ✔ A Terrific Final Day At Sea ✔ A Very Sentimental World Cruise Video ✔
Over the last few days some of our fellow guests have disembarked the ship. This includes some guests who live in Canada and decided to leave the ship either in Vancouver or Victoria and some guests who live in places such as Northern California or in other adjacent areas and decided to leave yesterday in San Francisco. While we depart tomorrow, there are several people staying on for the next voyage from Los Angeles to New York City with some getting off in Florida and others in New York City. There are also some people who live in the United Kingdom or in areas in Europe who will continue on as the ship sails from New York City over to Dover, England.
We wanted to begin by saying how much we enjoyed our time in San Francisco. We love this city and we were fortunate to have the best weather one could ask for. It was great to have Ashley, Kelly, Patty and Michael on board with us and for us to walk around the city for a few hours on the morning and the afternoon.
A view of Alcatraz and it just doesn't get clearer than this.
Before dinner we spoke with our stewardess and assistant stewardess. They thanked us for a gift we had given to each of them and we thanked them for taking such good care of us for 120+ days. Our stewardess will be going home from Los Angeles for a well deserved Holiday. We were very happy to hear that our assistant stewardess (stewardess in training) will now become a stewardess. We hope to see them again.
Afterwards, we walked around for awhile and spoke with some of our fellow guests such as Elaine who we have sailed with for the first time during this journey.

We had dinner at Silk Road with good friends Bob and Glo. It was nice for the four of us to have dinner together before the conclusion of this adventure. It seems as if it was only yesterday when the four of us and their niece Becky had dinner in Miami before we boarded the Crystal Serenity on December 21.
Dinner was outstanding and that included not only the wonderful dinner and service but enjoying a nice evening with Bob and Glo.
Our waiter for the evening was Alberto who was assisted by Ruel and the two of them took wonderful care of us. Alberto had pre-ordred several items for us and after we had those items we ordered sushi/sashimi and our entree. We had both the sushi and sashimi and for our entree we each had the Hot Sobo Noodle Soup with Scallops added to it. Everything was perfect.
These are photos of some of the appetizers.

When we arrived back to the room there was a nice letter from World Cruise Hostess to each of us and it also included a message from Cruise Director Rick Spath and a letter with all of the thoughts for the day from Captain Glenn. This was another very nice touch for what was our favorite World Cruise.
We slept very well last evening. The seas were relatively calm.
Keith woke up early for the final sea day of this adventure and for his final workout of this adventure. He chatted with fellow guest Brian, and with Fitness Director Juli and with the Store Manager. He did what he has done for over 120 days and that was to workout at the Fitness Center.
Anne Marie also enjoyed a nice workout before we had breakfast in our room.
Keith stopped by the Lido Cafe for some coffee and spoke with some of the Lido Deck Stewards, Jun, Nat, and Martin and also to the member of the Night Crew. He thanked them so very much for all they have done for us.
Rao brought our breakfast and we chatted for awhile about San Francisco. We also asked for an earlier breakfast tomorrow and as we normally do on our final morning we changed up the breakfast. Instead of Oatmeal and a banana, Keith will have smokes salmon with a bagel and Anne Marie will have pancakes.

As we have done for each and every sea day we watched the final Daily Morning Show of World Cruise 2012 as we enjoyed breakfast. One of the highlights of the show was that Rick Spath and Elise Ivy spoke by phone with Captain Glenn.
During Captain Glenn's morning talk from the bridge he shared with us his final thought for the day.
"Don't cry because it's over but simply smile because it happened."

The major highlight of the morning was the viewing of the 2012 World Cruise DVD. Before the video was shown Rick and Elise each spoke. There words were very sentimental to us.
During the course of this cruise Pianist John Mentis has been taking videos both on and off the ship. Then Jeff Waters who puts together a lot of Videos for Crystal Cruises came on the ship around the time we were in Beijing and has been on the ship since then. Jeff has also taken some video and then worked tirelessly to go through hundreds of hours of video to pull together a slightly under sixty minutes video on DVD which captured the essence of this World Cruise. It was very sentimental as we relived all of the wonderful experiences that we have had since the World Cruise began. As many guests as possible were in the video. The video is perfect to watch from time to time and to share with friends and family. At the end of the Video many members of the crew marched and filled the Galaxy Showroom. It was a very touching experience and there were not many without tears in their eyes. We had tears.
After the video, we had lunch with friends Allan and Helen in the Crystal Dining Room. We had a great time with them.
Afterwards, Keith met up with friend Bob and Anne Marie did more packing.
Before dinner we will attend the final variety show of this cruise.
This evening we will dine in the Crystal Dining Room for our last meal there and after dinner we will attend the 2012 World Cruise Countdown held in the same area where the evening kickoff with the balloon and confetti drop was held to mark the beginning of the World Cruise.
We will post more about that along with final thoughts.

TODAY'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY...
This one has become a favorite of ours.
Some people see the word "impossible" while others see this as two words I’m Possible
Keith and Anne Marie

I can't thank you enough for sharing your trip with all of us. My morning routine this winter has been to wake up, kiss my husband good morning, fire up my computer, grab a cup of coffee, and check in on your happenings. You helped so many of us get through the winter, as mild as it's been. My husband has enjoyed your blog too, as I often read parts to him while he surfed across the table from me. This morning we decided to squeeze in another Crystal cruise in October, why not? As Mark Twain said...
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to thank you and Anne Marie once again for sharing your World Cruise experience with us. Along with so many others who have enjoyed your blog during the last four months, we will miss your daily reports on the latest port, the menus, the onboard activities, etc. Our only consolation is that as there are more cruises in your future we can look forward to more blogs to come.
ReplyDeleteDavid and I also wanted to tell you once again how much we enjoyed meeting and chatting with you and Anne Marie on 2304. We really appreciated Anne Marie’s efforts at the Meet and Mingle to introduce those of us who had just boarded the ship to other CC members. It was extremely thoughtful and made it much easier for us to connect with other members. We even found our trivia team at the M&M. We were not at all surprised to find that the two of you are just as nice and helpful in person as Keith is on the CC boards.
We hope to sail with you and Anne Marie again in the future and look forward to the next blog. We know that while you will miss the ship, your many friends on board and the WC experience you are excited about returning home to your family, especially your new grandson!
Andrea and David
Thanks so much for all the time and effort to do this blog, and safe travels home. While I'm sure it's bittersweet to leave the ship, you're no doubt excited about the prospect of seeing your grandson in person instead of the cute pictures you've posted--they grow and change so much at that age!
ReplyDeleteThis was an outstanding account of your wonderful adventure around the world. We both thank you for taking us along with you. You out did yourself this year. It has been really nice to start each day reading the blog and feeling as though we were with you and Anne Marie. We hope your journey home is safe and that you settle in to 'home-life' with ease. Enjoy time with your family. Until next time...
ReplyDeleteMuch love A&K
Thank you for taking time out of your day to update this blog. I for one, will miss reading your daily journals.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for allowing us to be part of your adventure!
Safe travels
As many others have said, thank you so much for taking the time to write this blog. Your ability to bring so much of the cruise alive to us makes us feel like we are there with you. I am amazed at your vigilance to working out, it prompted me to give spin classes a try and I must say, after 4 classes, I can't believe how many classes over the course of the cruise you've taken. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading your future blogs!
As everyone else has said we appreciate you taking us along on your adventure. Your dedication to the blog is second to none - you kept it up to date every day and never kept us waiting for more! So many people start blogs and then let them lag til we lose interest - not the case with Keith and Anne Marie!
ReplyDeleteI have so enjoyed all your commentary - not to mention the beautiful photos - and I look forward to your next cruise. I especially like the fact that you post the menus - those of us not there love to figure out what we would be eating if we were onboard!
I'm sure you are now looking forward to getting home and back with your family. The first day there is likely to be a rude awakening - but something tells me you're up for the challange!
Thanks again for a great experience.
Regards ~
Nancy
Giving you the standing ovation you deserve for the blog. It was really a joy to follow. Thank you so much for sharing the details of such an adventure. We look forward to meeting one day.
ReplyDeleteSincerely,
