DAY 27 - WELCOME TO CABOS SAN LUCAS, MEXICO

Wonderful Time In Puerto Vallarta Yesterday And In Cabos San Lucas Today  ✔  Thoroughly Enjoying Sailing With Some Guests For The Very First Time And Others Who We Have Sailed With Previously On One Or More Cruises

These are some additional photos from our visit to Puerto Vallarta.

We wanted to mention how much fun that Keith has been having playing Paddle Tennis.  It's a great way to get to know many of our fellow guests, get some fresh air, and enjoy a team sport.  We have mentioned Cruise Critic from time to time such as the Cruise Critic Parties that Crystal Cruises sponsors when there are 10 or more passengers who sign up for the party.  On this cruise there are over 40 people who signed up and we have really enjoyed meeting so many of them, some who we have sailed with before.  This brings us back to Paddle Tennis from yesterday afternoon when the last foursome game that Keith played was where he teamed with Caryn, and played against Caryn's husband Stan along with Bev.  This is the first time we have sailed with Caryn and Stan and we have sailed with Bev and her husband before.  When Keith returned to our room, he told Anne Marie what a wonderful time he had in that last game.  Everyone was so very spirited and not only complemented their respective partner but each other when ever someone made a good play.  Now, that's what sports should always be like.

As we left Puerto Vallarta late yesterday afternoon there was a sail-away party on the outer decks of the ship.  This included live music along with complimentary drinks

We ended up going up to the Palm Court and listened to the Crystal Galaxy Orchestra as we sailed away from Puerto Vallarta.

A few minutes before dinner we watched some of the Giants and Packers Football Game which was on the television set by the Crystal Cove.  Based on the cheering there appeared to be many more passengers rooting for the Giants who ended up winning the game.

Afterwards, we enjoyed dinner in the Crystal Dining Room last evening.  We had looked at a copy of the menu the night before and rather than going with the seafood entrée of Atlantic Cod Loin on the menu or the alternative choice of mahi mahi, we decided to special order salmon.  Igor, our headwaiter, had checked with the chef to see what types of fish were available for special order and there were four choices in total, including the salmon.  We also tried the Atlantic Cod Loin and had a small portion of it.

We began our dinner with salad with Anne Marie having the salad that was on the menu and Keith going with his regular salad.  We enjoyed the salmon entrée and we had also ordered mushroom risotto to go with it and as usual the risotto was quite tasty.  We also had steamed vegetables.

Keith had Pinot Noir, which was left over from the night before, and Anne Marie had some Chardonnay.  These wines paired very well with dinner.

During dinner Maitre d' Leo Asmair who just boarded the ship yesterday stopped by our table to say hello.  He will be on board for the full World Cruise.

This photo shows our Headwaiter Jijo right after he brought over our entrees.  We only had a portion of the Atlantic Cod Loin.

Before we went to sleep last evening, we turned back the clocks one hour as we sailed into another new time zone. The good news is we get to do this again before we arrive to Los Angeles.  This will continue as we continue sailing West from Los Angles but we realize payback time will occur on the last leg of the voyage when we set sail from Japan back to California, but we have plenty of time to deal with that.

Keith and Anne Marie got in their regular morning workouts this morning.  When Keith stopped by the Lido Cafe to have some coffee there were many more guests having coffee and/or continental breakfast than normal because of both the time change coupled with early tours in Cabos San Lucas.

On sea days from 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM there is coffee and juices available and then from 6:00 AM to 6:30 AM there is an early risers continental breakfast of danish, cereal, yogurt, fruit and some other items.  However, many of these items are normally available prior to 6:00 AM as was the case today.

There is a wider selection of fruit available then Keith could take a photo of.

We enjoyed breakfast in our room and then we got ready to take a tender over to Cabos. These were some of the views we had from our room as we enjoyed had our breakfast.

We had made arrangements to meet friends Bob and Glo and take the tender over there together so we could spend a couple of hours walking around together.  Since we have all been to this port many times, we did not take any type of excursion.  There are lots of shops and other businesses right at the tender drop off and from there it is only a very short walk into the downtown area.  This is much different than the first time we visited here with our children back in the early 1990's when none of these stores or other establishments were located right at the tender pier.  Back then there was only a flea market.

We first were on a mission to find a particular steroid cream item for Glo's face.  We went to several pharmacies until we found the place that had what Glo needed.

We did stop off at a variety of pharmacies such as this one.

Afterwards, we went walked around for a little while enjoying the views of many of the sailboats and other boats along the pier while also stopping at some of the shops to browse.
Weather was terrific and we ran into several passengers from the ship.

This is the tender that we took back from Cabos over to the Ship.

After spending a couple of hours there we returned to the ship and we had lunch at the Lido Cafe.  Later, Keith got in some Paddle Tennis time and Anne Marie walked for another hour on the Promenade Deck and then sat out for awhile.  She had been enjoying her audio books and also her needlepoint kits.

Since this voyage is coming to a conclusion on the morning of January 18 we were asked to pick up our passports today.  Although we continue to the next voyage, we will still need them to go through customs and immigration and then once back on the ship we will turn them in again.

This evening we will attend the Captain's Farewell Reception for this leg of the journey and afterwards we will dine in the Crystal DIning Room.  This evening is formal night.  We'll post more about this tomorrow.

More good news!  We turn the clocks back another hour this evening.
